A Woman In PURSUIT of herself: A poem
This is a story about speaking aloud and opening, unfolding,
creating.
It starts with a beautiful young girl - at times, tentative in step, but mostly passionate, boisterous, joyful and unapologetic.
Smiling with laughter, jumping for joy, fully alive and Vibrant
and being told…
to stop. You must be perfect she was told. You must sit still and serve others.
You must ignore your true self.
But still she fought. She fought to stay honest, to spread love and hope.
In fear at times, yes, but trying to spread light amid the darkness.
Seeing pain, thinking it was hers to hold,
and apologies for taking that from you
and walking in darkness
in the abyss, in the staleness, the nothing
Thinking this was the answer.
She will hold your burden. She will rake it up and place it upon her shoulders to feel.
To feel is the only way to walk with you she thought.
The weight, like a boulder of ugliness and hatred. A beast,
a virus eating away at her until
there is nothing.
Nothing and yet too much.
And she steps away from everything until…a daughter arrives on the scene.
She is the spark that electrifies.
Something in her awakening to power, to might, to joy again; and watching.
Watching the wonder, watching the beauty, light and experimentation
come alive. A piece of her embodied in love. This gift. This wonderful gift.
A girl. Her eyes suddenly open and something shifts.
How? How is the question.
How to bring light to all this pain? How to move forward in power, in truth, and knowing?
And a friend speaks.
A mentor uses the words & like a light bulb turning on, like the universe shifting everything within it comes…
“What about coaching?”
That’s the magic that contains a journey.
A journey to self-discovery, to being seen, to her it’s new connection, NEW BEGINNINGS - a life ready to be created and revived, and finding connection to a wide well of love and enlightenment —> evoking transformation and finding the cosmic in the earth.
Grounding and digging deep, coming up from the ash and soot - the butterfly has emerged. “What is this?” - she asks.
What does this feel like?
How long have I been asleep? Who will I discover?
There’s new resolve to find more of herself in taking chances
What am I becoming?
What am I already that is now screaming aloud for attention?
A woman in pursuit of Herself.
Raw, sensual, fierce, passionate and gritty.
A new force to be reckoned with and worshipped.
Her curves tantalizing to herself and her love.
Power tapped in and alive. Power transformed.
Her newfound discovery is like electricity on her skin - crackling and moving exuberant and as it spreads people notice her - they inquire about her.
Who is she? Where did she come from?
The fire of her is a curious thing to behold.
With each step in her journey she stands straighter, higher, and more confident. She loves herself. Her imperfectness is perfect.
Her smile, her tears, her doubt, her creativity, her ignition is perfect and right.
She destroys the patterns that no longer serve, that don’t feel right.
She burns them away and trailblazes a path for herself. There is constant movement and momentum.
A train that is unstoppable. A dream that she is at the precipice - she jumps in a free fall into greatness.
She flies, swerving and swooping, and arrives at a place of wonder and quiet.
There is ancient wisdom here - a cavern of mystery - reverent beauty, old and delicate, yet strong enough to live for millennia.
She steps tentatively forward and finds herself in the midst of a great pool - with ripples spreading out and she realizes this is her mark on the world.
The spreading into every crevice of the dark places. It is love and hope.
It is light and comfort.
It is laughter and joy seeping into the nooks and crannies, the deepest, darkest corners have been lit and she sees that this is her destination - to see her impact, to feel its power like an ocean within her, the sun above shining down into the world, the ocean waves lapping against the muck and grime and making it clean.
There is great warmth here. Music is in the air and she hears herself sing, “Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah to you. You are beautiful, you are wonderful and it is your light I see. Yes, I see you, and I love you, Hallelujah to you.”
This was a story about a young girl who becomes a woman strong and lovely, and she finally arrives to see her ocean and her sun, Mar y sol. Welcome her.
