The Truest, Most Beautiful world…

Here’s a journaling prompt from Glennon Doyle’s, Untamed: The Journal, How To Quit Pleasing and Start Living:

Describe the truest, most beautiful world you can imagine.

A few months ago, I made an initial attempt to journal this and what came out turned into something slightly different than what I expected.

I ended up thinking of my girls, and what I hoped for their life. Here’s what I wrote:

Ease and light. Where my daughters don’t have to feel the pressure of learning, performing, and achieving to get to the “next level” nor for that to be the focus of what gives them a sense of self-worth, but instead for them to experience learning as an adventure, to be lost in it, to have ease and play in their life.

To be in meaningful relationship with the people and world around them.

Sleep until you’re well rested, fed until you’re satisfied, play until you’ve had enough, study until you’ve soaked in all you can. A more easy and intuitive way to experience life that is connected to gratitude rather than lack.”

Sometimes I wonder if more of us had access to this way of living and moving in the world, would we hear different stories in the news about how we treat each other?

Maybe we would all have more patience, more curiosity, more empathy and warmth for others because we’ve taken good care of ourselves and had the time and space to honor that.

I don’t know. I don’t claim to have any answers.

But it’s something that my heart craves for humanity.

I hope you’re taking good care of yourself and honoring what you need, so that if you’re asked to give or see a need, you can offer assistance with grace and energy.
